Fire barrier block (Soft)

Intumescent fire barrier block for sealing medium-sized openings in cable trays and pipe penetrations.

New AY materials’ fire barrier blocks /firestop pillow is halogen-free, fiber-free, and VOC-free. When exposed to heat, the firestop block expands more than 300%, forming a dense char barrier.

With a fire resistance rating of up to 2 hours

Frequently asked questions

Better compressive strength and longer service life.
• Traditional firestop pillows use internal fillers (such as expanded vermiculite or mineral wool). Over time, gravity causes these materials to settle, leaving the upper part of the bag empty and compromising the seal. Their water resistance, oil resistance, and corrosion resistance are generally poor, making them more prone to failure in humid environments. Their typical service life is only about 3 years.
• In contrast, NEW AY’s Fire barrier blocks can last up to 30 years.
• The compressive strength of traditional firestop pillows is low (approx. 0.05 MPa), while NEW AY’s Fire barrier blocks can reach 100 kPa.

Upon exposure to fire, the blocks expand and char to form a dense barrier that blocks flames and cuts off oxygen. The thickness of the char layer increases by up to 300%.

• Dimensions (size)
• Shape — including interlocking (male-female) self-locking structures that require no firestop sealant during installation
• Fire resistance rating (duration) — achieved by adding special materials

• Sealing (water tightness): No leakage after a 24-hour hydrostatic pressure test (per ASTM D570 standard).
• Flame resistance: Char length ≤ 10 cm in an alcohol lamp flame test.

Yes. They support cutting and drilling. When the penetration seal location needs to be changed, the blocks can be directly disassembled and reassembled, reducing rework and lowering replacement costs.
