Firestop acrylic sealant

Intumescent Firestop Acrylic Sealant | 3-hour fire resistance for cable and pipe penetrations

NEW AY Intumescent Firestop Acrylic Sealant is a water-based, halogen-free, asbestos-free firestopping sealant designed for use in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. When exposed to fire, the material intumesces and expands to form a dense, insulating char that effectively restricts the passage of flames, heat, and smoke.
The sealant delivers fire resistance ratings of up to 3 hours, while maintaining excellent air-tightness and water-tightness under normal service conditions. Its formulation ensures long-term durability, with a designed service life of up to 30 years, making it suitable for critical infrastructure and industrial environments.

Frequently asked questions

This fireproof sealant itself (HB grade) can be ignited and burned, but it is precisely the chemical reaction (intumescent charring) during its combustion that creates a “firewall” capable of holding up for 3 hours without failure, thereby achieving the “3-hour fire resistance” system performance.

The sealant expands more than 1000% when exposed to fire, forming a dense char barrier that prevents flames, smoke, and gases from spreading for up to 3 hours.

Yes. Its resistance to moisture, humidity, and temperature cycling makes it suitable for indoor and protected industrial environments.

The sealant can be applied using a standard caulking gun.

Yes. For larger wall or floor penetrations, the core can be filled with firestop foam and the exterior surface sealed with the sealant. Alternatively, firestop blocks can be used to fill large openings, with the sealant applied to seal remaining gaps.

Many acrylic sealants available for general construction are not intumescent and do not expand under fire exposure, resulting in lower fire-resistance performance compared to NEW AY Firestop Acrylic Sealant.

It depends on the application:
• firestop sealant is best for small gaps, cable trays, and pipe penetrations where a rigid, paintable finish is required.
• Intumescent firestop foam is ideal for larger, irregular openings, complex penetrations, or environments where flexibility and easy re-entry are important.
